I've just listened to the Bach C major prelude, Bk 1, at your site. It's a great reading. How rare it is to hear a great interpretation of this deceptively simple piece in the middle of the internet wilderness.

I cannot believe the tragedy that was distilled into the first moments of this prelude, BWV 853. It is as if one is holding drinking glass, and the next second drops and shatters it. It is heartbreaking each time I hear it. But what I hear is the playing of Richter when I listen to this. The missing quality that Carlos Gardels doesn't supply, my mind fools me to add in.

It is like the blind spot built into our eye that when we actually see a broken green circle or broken red line because of the optic nerve attached in one spot, our mind translates it to a complete green circle or complete red line.

But this is not a criticism of Gardels, it was once well said that "It is unfair to compare another pianist to Richter, unfair for the other pianist."

But when a person unfamiliar with the piece comes across a competent recording or performance, and then walks away thinking the music is nothing special, soft and moody, but not Wow! Is it unfair to that person... to Bach?

It reminds me of hearing a masterclass with the great cellist Bernard Greenhouse. The student plays. The audience listens and thinks she was perfect. Then Greenhouse plays the same piece to show how its done and everyone realizes at that moment that the student did a great injustice to the work.
